Youth Enrichment Classes

Learning doesn’t have to end when school lets out!

Join us for fun and fascinating after-school, evening and weekend classes that let you focus on what YOU are interested in. Whether it’s technology, athletics, cooking, music, theater or dance, we have something for you!

Online STEAM Classes

Do you love coding, video games, or anything cutting-edge tech related? Then join one of our online STEAM classes and become a true tech wiz!

These online classes bring together kids from all around the country who share a passion for coding, technology and gaming, who then work together in a safe and collaborative online environment.

Fun fact: STEAM stands for “Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.”

Note: Each of our Online STEAM classes have specific hardware, software, and OS requirements. Make sure you meet the requirements before enrolling. Tech details are in the class listings in our online registration system accessible through the button below.

Youth Arts

Do you love the arts and want to gain additional skills and experience after school?

We offer a wide range of youth classes in the arts throughout the year including music, dance, theater, and arts & crafts classes.

Everyone loves musical theater, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with one of the best children’s theater programs in the Chicago area, the Children’s Theatre Company. Recent productions include “Grease,” “Mamma Mia,” “Frozen” and “Hairspray.” Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings, and each session ends with an amazing public performance in the Theater at Forest View.

If you’re interested in learning to sing or play an instrument, we offer private music lessons throughout the week at a number of different locations. Visit our Private Music Lessons page for details.

Youth Athletics

Are you looking for some unique athletic experiences you can’t find through your school or local park district?

Check out what D214 Community Education has to offer!

Our swim team and water polo team are great ways to dip your toe into competitive aquatic sports or stay in shape during the off-season. For more info on our aquatics programs, check out our Youth Aquatics page.

Our Sunday morning badminton program is a great way to spend valuable time with your family while getting some fun exercise. The format is primarily open play with instruction available upon request. Plastic shuttles are provided, but bring a racket. Athletes 17 years old or younger must have a parent/guardian also enrolled and participating with them.

Youth Culinary

Our culinary classes are some of our most popular community education programs, and it’s no wonder!

Cooking is not only fun and a great way to bond with your family, but it’s also a valuable lifelong skill. All culinary classes are open to teens ages 13 and up when they enroll with a registered parent or guardian (both child and parent must register and each pay the class fee).
