Maria Louchios

Maria Louchios has been teaching Spanish and Art for nearly three decades. Maria graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and Art Education/Graphic Design from the University of Illinois in Chicago and Champaign. She finds joy in listening to students express themselves in Spanish. Maria has been an instructor since 2016 with D214 Community Education and she feels learning to speak the language is always advantageous when traveling abroad. The students in Maria’s classes learn how to ask simple questions and to answer with simple statements. Students create dialogue for introductions, various shopping situations, weather, street directions, dining, traveling, and medical assistance. Every term, her classes celebrate with a fiesta of flan! Ole!

She has a National Board Certification and has been teaching High School Spanish and French since 1994. Kate has been with Community Education teaching Spanish since 2018. Kate considers herself more of a coach than a teacher in her Community Education classes because she meets people at their level and differentiates the learning to help them achieve their goals.
