Tuesday June 16, 2020            $135

The spectacular new Odyssey Chicago River cruise vessel has arrived! This new 200-seat single-level boat offers an upscale order-from-the-menu, three-course, full-service luncheon and sets sail from near the Tribune and NBC Towers.  The two-hour cruise with light narration will travel along the Chicago River’s scenic main branch as well as the seldom traveled north branch, to Goose Island, and then on the south branch of the river to Chinatown’s Ping Tom Park. The glass-covered boat gives passengers an unparalleled 360-degree view of Chicago’s incredible architecture. Before the cruise, we will visit the Chicago Maritime Museum at its new home in the Bridgeport Art Center.  Located on the once infamous Bubbly Creek branch of the river near the old Union Stockyards, the museum tells the story of Chicago’s waterways and their impact on Chicago’s history.  One of the fascinating displays is about the golden age of steamships in Chicago and includes a dive suit used in the rescue operation of the Eastland disaster in 1915. Learn exactly how the flow of the Chicago River was reversed and see the museum’s pictorial archives.
