Lake Geneva's Black Pointe Estate & Pier 290
Lake Geneva’s Black Pointe Estate & Pier 290 Tuesday May 12, 2020 $ 112
Follow in the footsteps of wealthy Chicagoans such as Wrigley, Schwinn and Maytag to what was once known as the "Newport of the West", Lake Geneva, WI. Step back in time to the Lake's gilded age of the 1890s as we visit one of the area's most decadent Queen Anne Mansions, Black Point Estate, a summer home built for Chicago beer baron Conrad Seipp. You'll marvel at this stately mansion featuring thirteen exquisite bedrooms, a four-story "crow's nest" observation tower and 620 feet of pristine Lake Geneva shoreline, surrounded by forest. See the amazing grand piano and gold-encrusted blotter and inkwell. Hear the stories about the family and how the raising of the American flag was a daily ritual as a symbol of Seipp's American dream fulfilled. Later we’ll drive around the lake to Williams Bay for lunch at Pier 290, Lake Geneva's only lakeside restaurant. Pier 290 is designed to capture lake views from nearly every vantage point in the dining room. The decor includes many antique nautical pieces and fixtures from the Lake Geneva region. After lunch, visit downtown Lake Geneva for a leisurely stroll along the lake or time to shop in the quaint shops.
