American Writers Museum & Chicago River Luncheon Cruise
Tuesday, May 14, 2019   -   $125

Join us for two of Chicago’s newest attractions--the American Writers Museum and the new Odyssey, a European glass-enclosed boat that began sailing on the Chicago River in October of 2018.

The American Writers Museum opened on Michigan Ave in 2017 and has already been ranked #1 in USA TODAY Top 10 Best Readers’ Choice Award for Best Illinois Attraction and by Fodor’s as first in their article “Inside the World’s 10 Best New Museums”.

The Museum is the first of its kind in the US to feature innovative and dynamic state-of-the-art exhibitions, as well as compelling programming. It is a celebration of the American writer, and how those writers have shaped the country’s identity and culture. The final product is a vibrant, inspiring space that allows museumgoers to interact with the writers of America’s past and present.

The exhibit in the main hall, “American Voices,” celebrates a hundred emblematic American writers below a sixty-foot timeline of American history, starting with the exploration of the Americas by Europeans in 1492 and ending in the present day. Other exhibitions include the Word Waterfall and the Wintrust Chicago Gallery which features Chicago Writers, its journalistic communities and more.

Later we board the new Odyssey cruise vessel, a 200-seat, single-level boat which will offer an upscale three-course, full service luncheon. The glass-covered boat will offer an unparalleled 360 degree view of Chicago’s incredible architecture. The two-hour cruise will sail the river’s main branch as well as the north branch to Goose Island and the south branch to Chinatown.
