District 214 Community Education features a range of programs for the entire family.
Family Literacy focuses on families with children from birth to age 10. These programs provide classes in adult education, early childhood education, parent workshops, interactive parent/child activities and home visits.
The Catherine M. Lee Women's and Children's Center helps low-income, female immigrants gain basic skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing English in order to increase their readiness skills for gaining employment. Children ages 5 and younger are welcome to attend early childhood education classes while their mothers attend adult classes.
The Prevention Initiative is a program for families with children from birth to 3 years who are at risk due to developmental delays, language, cultural, or economic disadvantages.
And the WHAM Swim Program is designed to train and develop swimmers at age appropriate levels as they prepare for success in high school programs.
