FP Catherine M. Lee Women's & Children's Center
The Catherine M. Lee Women's and Children's Center helps low-income, female immigrants gain basic skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing English in order to increase their readiness skills for gaining employment. Children ages 5 and younger are welcome to attend early childhood education classes while their mothers attend adult classes.
The Women's and Children's Center is grateful to agencies and organizations that provide other necessary social services, especially the Promotoras de Salud of Northwest Community Hospital.
This project was made possible by a grant awarded by the Illinois State Library (ISL), a division of the Office of the Secretary of State, using state funds designated for literacy.
Approximately 16% of the FY18 Women's & Children's Center program is paid with federal funds in the amount of $10,911.
