Volunteering

Volunteering is fun and a great way to get involved in your community. This class provides an overview of the many volunteer opportunities available in this area, explores the benefits of volunteering, and illustrates how your efforts make a positive impact on the community.

Seasoned volunteer professionals from HandsOn Suburban Chicago will introduce you to HandsOn Connect, a tool that will help you find the volunteer position that fits your skills and interests. The presentation will include an informal Q&A session. Discover how effortless it is to find the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!

A-OK (Acts of Kindness)

Through this intergenerational home maintenance program, student volunteers from District 214 High Schools are able to help older adults with tasks such as cleaning gutters (one-story homes only), raking leaves, doing minor home maintenance, testing/installing smoke detectors, and more.

Students are supervised by knowledgeable adults. Services are available to homeowners 60 years of age or older who live within the attendance area of a District 214 High School and meet low-income eligibility guidelines. Services are provided on a donation basis.
